Southern Metropolis Entertainment: Short-form dramas can bring a story to a much larger audience more quickly, but they may also compress a nuanced, complex text into a more straightforward product. Do you think short-form dramas dilute or amplify the value of Douban Read’s content? Amid the current market boom, what are your main concerns, if any?

Dai Qin: I believe that, to develop, short-form dramas must become more refined and diverse. As long as they are done well, they can amplify the value of our content. Mantuoluo, Huangque Feng and Yuqun Youxiang Ludi all have elements that have been adapted very well. This year and next will be crucial for the development of high-quality short-form dramas. I believe Douban Read’s high-quality content can be a great help in that process, and is a very scarce resource in the short-form drama industry.
